The Day of the Dead is a holiday in Mexico
where they celebrate and honor the lives of
past loved ones. Although this is a holiday
celebrated all around Mexico, Mexico City
is a great city to visit during the time of the
holdiay for the full experience.

Here is a list of festive traditions you should consider to attend
if you are traveling to Mexico City for the Day of the Dead;
  • Day of the Dead Parade --> Desfile de Día de Muertos
    1. At the parade you will see floats decorated with Day of the Dead traditions such as skeletons and marigolds.
  • Sight Day of the Dead Ofrendas at Zócalo
    1. During the Day of the Dead, the plaza is decorated with beautiful Ofrendas (Altars honroing the dead).
  • Legend of La Llorona boat ride
    1. This event is a year-round event, but attarcts people around the Day of the Day because as you travel through the canal
      you are told the story of legend La Llorona. This fable tells the story of a women who drowned her children in the canal,
      but is now filled with regret spending her after life searching for them. Sometimes, you can hear her weaping.
  • Visit a cemetary
    1. Cemeteries at the time of the Day of the Dead are decorated beautiflly with traditional decor. Remembering to be respectful,
      you can visit cemeteries to veiw how the dead are honored and celebrated in Mexican culture.
